सु॒षा॒र॒थिरश्वा॑निव॒ यन्म॑नु॒ष्या᳖न्ने॑नी॒यते॒ऽभीशु॑भिर्वा॒जिन॑ऽइव। हृ॒त्प्रति॑ष्ठं॒ यद॑जि॒रं जवि॑ष्ठं॒ तन्मे॒ मनः॑ शि॒वस॑ङ्कल्पमस्तु ॥६ ॥

Transliteration

suṣārathir-aśvān-iva yan-manuṣyān-nenīyate’bhīśubhir-vājin-’iva। hṛt-pratiṣṭhaṁ yad-ajiraṁ javiṣṭhaṁ tan-me manaḥ śiva-saṅkalpam-astu॥6॥

Translation

Like a well-harnessed chariot, leading humans as if they were horses, or like a skillful charioteer guiding his swift steeds, may my mind be established in the heart, firm and resolute, and be auspicious with benevolent intentions.

Transliteration

yasmin-nṛcaḥ sāma yajūṣi yasmin pratīṣṭhitā rathana̱bhāvivārāḥ। yasmiṁś-cittaṁ sarvam-otaṁ prajānāṁ tan-me manaḥ śiva-saṅkalpam-astu॥5॥

Translation

In which are contained the hymns (ṛcas), the chants (sāman), and the sacrificial formulas (yajūṣi), in which the spokes of the chariot wheel are firmly set; in which the consciousness of all beings is centered, may that mind of mine be auspicious with benevolent intentions.

yene-dam bhūtaṁ bhuvanaṁ bhaviṣyat pari-gṛhītam-amṛtena sarvam। yena yajñas-tāyate saptahotā tan-me manaḥ śiva-saṅkalpam-astu॥4॥

By whom this world, both past and future, has been encompassed, and by whom everything has been embraced through the immortal essence; by whom the seven-hotted offering is accomplished in the sacrifice, may that mind of mine be auspicious with benevolent intentions.

yat prajñānam-uta ceto dhṛtiś-ca yaj jyotir-antaramṛtaṁ prajāsu। yasmān-naṛte kiṁ cana karma kriyate tan-me manaḥ śiva-saṅkalpam-astu॥3॥

Whatever transcendent knowledge and understanding, consciousness, and insight, as well as inner light and immortality exist among the people, from which in the absence of falsehood, some action is performed, may that mind of mine be auspicious with benevolent intentions.

yena karmāṇy-apaso manīṣiṇo yajñe kṛṇvanti vidatheṣu dhīrāḥ। yad-apūrvaṁ yakṣam-antaḥ prajānāṁ tan-me manaḥ śiva-saṅkalpam-astu॥2॥

Translation

By which, wise individuals perform unblemished actions in the sacrifice, and with foresight in their thoughts, those actions which were not done before, within the people, may that mind of mine be auspicious with benevolent intentions.

yaj-jāgrato dūram-udaiti daivaṁ tad-u suptasya tathai-vaiti। dūraṅgaṁ jyotiṣāṁ jyotir-ekaṁ tan-me manaḥ śiva-saṅkalpam-astu॥1॥

That which, when awake, goes far away, and in sleep, goes only so far, it is a divine entity. The light of lights, beyond the reach of darkness, it is my mind, and may it be full of auspicious thoughts.

यजुर्वेद अध्याय 1 श्लोक 23

Transliteration

mā bher-mā san-vikthām atam-erur-yajño-atam-erur-yajamānasya prajā bhūyāt tri-tāya tvā dvi-tāya tvai-katāya tvā॥23॥

Translation

May the yajna (sacrificial ritual) not be injured, may the performer of the yajna not be injured. May there be no injury to the yajamana (the one for whom the ritual is performed), may there be no injury to his offspring. To you, the threefold (deity), the twofold (deity), the single (deity), be homage.

This verse is a prayer for the protection and well-being of the sacrificial ritual (yajna) and its performer. The devotee seeks to prevent any harm or obstruction to the yajna itself, the one conducting the ritual (yajamana), and the progeny of the yajamana. यजुर्वेद अध्याय 1 श्लोक 22

Transliteration

janayatyai tvā saṁyau-mīdam agneridam agnīṣomayor-iṣhe tvā gharmaḥ asi viśvāyur-urupa-thāu-ru prathasvo-ru। te yajñapa-tiḥ prathatām agniṣṭe tvacaṁ mā hiṁsīd devas tvā savitā śrapayatu varṣiṣṭhe’dhi nāke॥22॥

Translation

For the sake of generating strength, I invoke you, O Agni, for the union of Agni and Soma, I invoke you. You are the supporter of all; you surpass in strength, surpass in excellence, surpass in preeminence. May you, the lord of sacrifice, excel; do not harm our skin. O God Savitar, let blessings be showered upon you in the highest heaven.

Transliteration

sahas-tomāḥ sahach-chandasā-‘vṛtaḥ saha-pramā-‘ṛṣayaḥ sapta daivyāḥ। pūrveṣāṁ panthām anudṛśya dhīrā-‘nvālebhire rathyo na raśmīn॥49॥

Translation

United by power, united by determination, surrounded by unity, seven divine beings. The wise, having seen the course of those who came before, with chariots unyoked, do not traverse the same pathways.

यजुर्वेद अध्याय 23 श्लोक 34

Transliteration

dvipadā yāścatuṣpadāstripadā yāścaṣṭpadāḥ। vicchandā yāśca sacchandāḥ sūcībhiḥ śamyantu tvā॥34॥

Translation

May those with two pad, those with four pad, those with three pad, and those with six pad, as well as those with Chhand as well without Chhand, bring you peace.
